GWO Enhanced First Aid

GWO Enhanced First Aid

The idea of the module is to understand the importance of providing basic and enhanced first aid in a safe and reliable manner, in accordance with local legislation and guidelines of the European Resuscitation Council (ERC) and the American Heart Association (AHA). The course uses safe, effective and immediate life-saving measures in various traumatic conditions. Delegates will learn to provide assistance with advanced emergency equipment and teleconsultation, with particular emphasis on personal protection. The programme shall identify and explain the functioning, signs and symptoms of serious and minor injuries and diseases associated with the human body. It is also essential to demonstrate understanding and proper emergency management order in a wind turbine (WTG) environment.

Trainers will teach how to make a proper assessment of the victim’s health after injury or acute illness and determine if medical advice and external assistance is required.

The training is also a dose of knowledge in the field of alerting emergency services and telemedical consultations by providing a concise and relevant report on the victim’s health, while receiving medical advice to stabilize their situation.

During the theoretical part of the training, participants will learn about advanced first aid.

It takes place in the lecture hall with a multimedia presentation and the necessary didactic aids. The practical part is a simulation of real activities.

Target group:

The course is dedicated to people working on wind turbines. It is an extended first aid training. In order to approach the course you must have a valid First Aid certificate, which belongs to the Basic Safety Training module.

Strategic objectives

The purpose of the training is to prepare the delegate to act as a leader in situations where first aid is needed.

Upon completion of the advanced first aid course delegates will be able to manage situations requiring immediate medical attention, using the equipment available on the wind turbine. This is particularly important because the WTG’s are located in an area remote from the emergency services and there is no possibility for the immediate arrival of the emergency services.
