GWO Advanced Rescue
Training

is a range of classes on advanced rescue and evacuation techniques in a wind turbine environment. During the training, students will learn how to behave during an emergency, no matter what part of the turbine they are in - hub, blade, basement, godown or tower. The courses also involve learning how to behave during a group and solo rescue operation. The course is varied because, in addition to theoretical knowledge, practical exercises also await the participants.

The Combined ART package is a set of training courses which, when combined, are cheaper and less time-consuming than courses taken one at a time. By choosing the Combined option, you will acquire the necessary competences much faster and at a lower cost.

The GWO Advanced Rescue Training modules consist of training:

  • ART Hub, Spinner and Inside Blade Rescue,
  • ART Nacelle, Tower and Basement,
  • SART – Single Rescuer – Hub, Spinner and Inside Blade Rescue,
  • SART – Single Rescuer – Nacelle, Tower and Basement.

The training takes place in a dedicated centre equipped with a lecture hall and facilities necessary for practical exercises. The practical part involves the use of basic evacuation equipment used in wind turbines.

Legal standards

Advanced Rescue Training has been prepared to ensure the best possible safety of wind turbine technicians in offshore and onshore environments. The training follows current legal procedures, for the sake of the highest quality of service.

Physical requirements

GWO Advanced Rescue Training can be potentially physically demanding. A fear of heights can be a definite obstacle to working after the course. Course organisers do not require students to have a documented medical examination.

Requirements

It is essential that you have up to date training before you start training. These include GWO: Working at Heights, First Aid and Manual Handling, which are part of the Basic Safety Training package as they provide the foundational knowledge for wind turbine technicians.

Costs

The cost of the course is relatively low in relation to earnings, as as little as 2 weeks' work pays back the training costs. It can be said that the qualification will certainly provide the future technicians that energy companies still need. The ART package, like other GWO courses, is respected among large corporations, small and medium-sized companies.

Benefits

Completion of the ART Combined course will considerably broaden your competences and thus also ensure higher earnings. At the end of the course, trainees will receive a certificate and therefore also an entry in the GWO WINDA system. This online database was created in connection with technological developments in the industry. A course that will be honoured in the labour market of the whole world, while competitive training may be outdated. To obtain the certificate you must successfully pass the final exam and demonstrate attendance in class. Find out more about the courses!
